About the collaborative

The national Maternal and Neonatal Health Safety Collaborative (MNHSC) was launched by the Department of Health in February 2017, as part of the wider national Maternity Transformation Plan, with the ambition to reduce the rates of stillbirths, maternal and neonatal deaths and brain injuries that occur during, or soon after, birth.

The collaborative is working with all NHS trusts in England that provide maternal and neonatal services to improve clinical practices and develop quality improvement skills, ensuring reliable and high-quality care for all women, babies and their families.

The collaborative is led by NHS Improvement’s Patient Safety team, and covers all maternal and neonatal services across England.

The 3-day learning set

This is the third, and final, learning set for NHS trust staff who are taking part in Wave 2 of the collaborative. A detailed agenda will be circulated shortly, but during the three days we will focus on:

  • situational awareness and human factors
  • influencing leaders and building will to sustain change
  • sharing learning and successes with Wave 2 colleagues
  • partnering with parents for improvement
  • putting the joy back into work.
